“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” – Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President

Oregon is the latest state to draft legislation that putsmajor restrictions on the 2nd Amendment. House Bill 3200’s summary states the “crime of unlawful possession or transfer of assault weapon or large capacity magazine” is punishable “by maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both.”
The entire first part of the bill tries to define an assault weapon. The definition will hinge upon one or more of the items in a list of cosmetic additions. Some examples include, “a shroud attached to the barrel, or that partially or completely encircles the barrel, allowing the bearer to hold the firearm with the non trigger hand without being burned, but excluding a slide that encloses the barrel.” Somehow that cosmetic addition makes a gun an assault weapon.

SOME TRUTHS ABOUT GUN CONTROL
“Those now possessing weapons and ammunition are at once to turn them over to the local police authority. Firearms and ammunition found in a Jew’s possession will be forfeited to the government without compensation. Whoever willfully or negligently violates the provisions will be punished with imprisonment and a fine.” – Nazi Law (Regulations Against Jews’ Possession of Weapons), 1938

“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.” – Mahatma Gandhi, in Gandhi, An Autobiography, p. 446

The American left (Socialists/Progressives) are elated. Finally, there is a new god in town, and it ain't the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and our Founding Fathers. Is the left's jubilation justified? Do a majority of Americans now look to Obama/government to supply all their needs, including deciding who lives and who dies (death panels buried in ObamaCare), rather than the God on which our country was founded?

President Obama's recent stumping for a federal preschool initiative has promised a lot to America. In his State of the Union speech, he spoke of making "high-quality preschool available to every single child in America." In his push, however, President Obama is promising something he has no plan to deliver.

Liberals never mind, ignoring anything that conflicts with their agenda.  But what's up with conservatives?  Yes, we argue in general terms that justices should take an "originalist" view of the Constitution, but where has that brought us?  To the public, it always gets translated into "ban abortion" or "bring back Jim Crow" or some other worrisome proposition.  "Hang murderers" and "crush crime," popular as those ideas certainly would be, somehow never become part of the discussion.
So while the left relentlessly pursues its objectives, conservatives play defense.  We'll go to the mattresses to defend the Second Amendment, but we have ignored our duty to the Eighth, and everyone pays a price for this.  Crime's victims pay in blood.  Conservative politicians pay on Election Day.
It's been excruciating to watch the Republican Party boot one election after another when the thing that can connect the GOP with so many rank-and-file Democrats is lying there, so obvious for anyone to see.  It isn't just Reagan Democrats who are keen for law and order.  Many among liberalism's special clientele -- poor people, minorities, feminists, gays, unions, the homeless, etc. -- are sick to death of gangs and violence and would love to see that all swept away.

The Progressive hit media are frantically circling the wagons, probably formulating a potent Alinsky Rule # 5 offense against sage Ben Carson.  Just yesterday, Media Matters went into full attack mode.  It appears the leftists were blindsided by the transparency and unassuming integrity of this gifted brain surgeon.  No doubt they are embarrassed by their previous sycophantic accolades heralding his exceptional accomplishments in his chosen field of pediatric neurosurgery.  A case in point may be the acclaim lauded upon Dr. Carson by feminist Christine Gorman in her 2001 piece in Time MagazineSuper Surgeon. How could she have known the subject of her acclaim would challenge the fundamental tenets of her liberalism a dozen years later?
Yet, here he comes daring to defy the unspoken apolitical taboos as keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast in the very hallowed presence of The One We Have Been Wait For by unabashedly exposing the myths of politically correct liberalism with incisive allegories drawn from Scripture and his own intriguing life story.   How dare he!

During a discussion about President Obama’s lack of transparency about the drone program, former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs explained on MSNBC this morning that he was ordered to never acknowledge the existence of the drone program.
“One of the first things they told me was, you are not even to acknowledge the drone program, you are not even to discuss that it exists,” Gibbs said frankly, explaining why he could never be forthcoming about the issue with White House reporters.
Gibbs added that in his opinion, the Obama administration’s denial of the program “undermines people’s confidence overall in the decisions that their government makes.”

It had all the appearances of a political dirty trick, a high-tech effort by an unknown hacker to sway three key Aug. 14 primary elections, a Miami Herald investigation has found.
The plot failed. The elections department’s software flagged the requests as suspicious. The ballots weren’t sent out.
But who was behind it? And next time, would a more skilled hacker be able to rig an election?
Six months and a grand-jury probe later, there still are few answers about the phantom requests, which targeted Democratic voters in a congressional district and Republican voters in two Florida House districts.

The White House on Sunday detailed how the deep spending cuts set to begin this week would affect programs in every state and the District, as President Obama launched a last-ditch effort to pressure congressional Republicans to compromise on a way to stop theacross-the-board cuts.

But while Republicans and Democrats were set to introduce dueling legislative proposals this week to avert the Friday start of the spending cuts, known as the sequester, neither side expected the measures to get enough support to pass Congress.
