How Much Taxation Would Fund Current Spending?

To best understand this spending aspect of the current budget negotiations in Washington, we must answer one crucial question: how much taxation on the top income-earners would be required to fully fund the present level of government spending?

Obama's America Will Become Detroit

President Barack Obama traveled to Michigan this week and made his case for class war in defense of the welfare state.
"Our economic success has never come from the top down," said Obama. "It comes from the middle out. It comes from the bottom up."
Obama spoke these words a few miles from Detroit — the reductio ad absurdum of his argument.
If America continues down the road to Obama's America — a road that began when President Franklin Roosevelt started building a welfare state here — our entire nation will become Detroit

Misleader-in-Chief

Of all the Presidents in my lifetime, I don't recall a Commander in Chief that seems to purposely mislead.  Yet this President often orates with well crafted phrases that can only be explained as contrived to this purpose.  We had yet another perfect example yesterday, December 11.  The President was addressing a crowd regarding the Michigan right to work issue.  Obama said, ""And by the way, what we shouldn't do -- I've just got to say this -- what we shouldn't be doing is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages and working conditions," he added to loud applause from the audience. "We shouldn't be doing that. The so-called 'right-to-work' laws -- they don't have to do with economics, they have everything to do with politics. What they're really talking about is giving you the right to work for less money."  The great enabling device is the main stream media.  In the past a confrontational and inquisitive journalistic community would not have allowed such antics.  They would seek truth as if it were an integral part of their profession.  Now it seems all they crave is a lowered hand from the President and a pat on the head.

Is wanting workers to have the right to choose if they're going to join a union racist?
Apparently it is according to MSNBC commentator Al Sharpton who concluded a Huffington Post rant about Michigan's newly enacted right to work laws Wednesday, "People should think twice before they invite Gov. Snyder to a King Day celebration in three weeks."

Hispanics must recall the reason their parents came to America in the first place
Put me down as one as a Cuban-American who voted for Romney.   Yes, we saw that "hope and change" movie before and it does not end well.
I will add that I've always supported a rational immigration reform that focuses on the economic needs of the US.  For example, I'm open to "work visas" for people who want to work here.  However, I do not believe in amnesty or legalizing people just because they crossed the border.  Our focus should be on all of those who respected our laws and sit in their countries waiting for their turn to come to the US.

New Army Manual Orders Soldiers Not To Criticize Taliban
Here is a strong indicator that the Obama Administration’s crusade to appease Islam has gone too far; a  new U.S. military handbook for troops deployed to the Middle East orders soldiers not to make derogatory comments about the Taliban or criticize pedophilia, among other outrageous things.
The draft leaked to the newspaper offers a list of “taboo conversation topics” that soldiers should avoid, including “making derogatory comments about the Taliban,” “advocating women’s rights,” “any criticism of pedophilia,” “directing any criticism towards Afghans,” “mentioning homosexuality and homosexual conduct” or “anything related to Islam.”
Under Obama practically every major federal agency has been ordered to participate in Muslim outreach initiatives, including the Justice Department with a special program to protect Islamic civil rights, Homeland Security meetings with extremist Muslim organizations and the nation’s space agency (NASA) with an unprecedented mission to focus on Muslim diplomacy.

'There Will Be Blood': Union Violence in the Age of Obama

This week, menacing union goons unleashed threats, profanity and punches in Michigan, which is now poised to become a "right-to-work" state. Obama met the initial outbreak of violence with the same response he's given to every other union outbreak of violence under his reign: dead silence.

ABC, NBC and CBS ignore union thugs' attack on Fox News contributor
t’s a sad day for American TV journalism when The Huffington Post is a more honest news outlet than ABC, CBS or NBC. On Tuesday, after Michigan union protests escalated into violence, HuffPo led with several stories, including one headlined: “Fox News Contributor Punched.”
That story was about how Fox News contributor Steven Crowder and others were attacked by union thugs during the protest against the new “right-to-work” law. ABC, CBS and NBC covered the protests but only ABC made mention of police having to deal with protesters. None of them mentioned the attack on Crowder or showed the videos of that attack and the thugs tearing down a tent with people in it, both widely available on the Internet hours before the evening news show broadcast. No network quoted Teamsters head Jimmy Hoffa predicting “civil war” between lawmakers and union members.

NBC’s medical editor denounced the religious part of Christmas during a panel discussion about the holiday on Today
“I don’t like the religion part,” said Nancy Snyderman, the network’s chief medical editor. “I think religion is what mucks the whole thing up.”
The “religion” she was referring to is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
The outburst came during a panel discussion with Matt Lauer, Star Jones and Donny Deutsch. Her response came after Jones said she focuses on the religious meaning of Christmas.

Many powerful Democrats, even some of the most liberal among them, are supporting what amounts to adismantling of President Obama’s signature health care law.

With some of their most influential constituent groups facing onerous tax increases that are slated to help fund the law’s mandates and regulations, Senators like Al Franken (D-MN), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Charles Schumer (D-NY), Patty Murray (D-WA), John Kerry (D-MA), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and others -- all of whom voted in favor of the law -- are aiming to delay or outright repeal parts of ObamaCare.

Obama's Tax-the-Scapegoat Strategy Is Doomed to Fail

In an interview with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly last year, President Obama claimed he "didn't raise taxes once." O'Reilly didn't challenge the claim, and other reporters repeated it as fact. But it was completely false.
By the time he went on O'Reilly's show, Obama had signed more than 20 tax hikes into law with a combined 10-year price tag of more than $500 billion. However, since most of these taxes targeted relatively small and unpopular groups — smokers, tanning salons, insurance companies, the rich — few seemed to notice.

Judge orders company to rehire unionized health care workers who may have endangered lives of elderly patients
A federal judge appointed by former President Bill Clinton has ordered five Connecticut nursing homes to rehire striking employees despite a criminal investigation into allegations that some of those workers endangered the lives of seniors.
Judge Robert Chatigny on Wednesday ordered Healthbridge Systems to lay off hundreds of replacement workers in order to make room for the 600 striking members of the SEIU Local 1199, one of the Atlantic region’s most powerful unions. Those workers walked out of their jobs over a contract dispute in July. Some employees allegedly tampered with the identification materials and medical records of patients, including some suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s, on their way out the door.
